Bronze Star 12+ Yrs
Learn valuable CPR and first aid skills and basic search and water rescue techniques. Work as part of a team, do a search pattern, and perform low-risk rescues. Your new lifesaving skills will be practiced in situations that may occur at home, on the beach, or near ice. Bronze Star will prepare you for the Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion.
Bronze Medallion- 13+ Yrs or Bronze Star
Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodies in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defense and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Completing Bronze Medallion also certifies the swimmer with a CPR-A certificate.
Bronze Cross - Prerequisite is Bronze Medallion
Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Completing Bronze Cross also certifies the swimmer with a CPR-C certificate. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification.
Swim For Life and Lifesaving Instructor
Lifesaving Instructors are trained to teach and evaluate Swim for Life program levels which include the following: Parent & Tot, Preschool, Swimmer 1 to 6, Rookie, Ranger & Star, All Bronze levels & Adult Swimmer and Fitness Swimmer. Topics covered include various approaches to teaching water rescue, first aid and related aquatic skills in these lifesaving programs. Candidates learn about long and short term planning, class management, safety supervision and the principles of evaluation. Completion of this course also certifies the individual with their Lifesaving CPR Instructor. Prerequisite(s): 16 years of age and current Bronze Cross or higher.
NLS Package National Lifeguard Service Package
National Lifeguard (NLS) certification is recognized as the standard for lifeguards in Canada. NLS training develops the basic lifeguarding skills, principles and decision making process to help lifeguards create a safe and enjoyable facility. This course teaches lifeguards to prevent emergencies and respond effectively. Other additions to this course package are as follows: Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC), Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), Oxygen Administration (O2) Prerequisite(s): 16 years of age; current Bronze Cross.
