Basement Suite Grant


Note:  The Basement Suite Grant program funding is currently fully allocated.

The Basement Suite Grant Program is for St. Albert homeowners who wish to develop or upgrade an existing basement suite in their home. The City will provide up to a maximum of $15,000 for the development of a new suite and a maximum of $10,000 for the renovation of an existing basement suite, subject to a five-year operating agreement with the City.

The grant will cover up to 70% of the construction costs to the maximum eligible limit for the suite. There is no deadline for applications, however, funding for the program is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Community Events Grant

This grant is for a sporting or cultural event, service or activity for the residents of  St. Albert. 

The purpose of the Community Events Grant program is to provide a source of funds for eligible community groups and eligible community events to assist in defraying costs associated with those events.  The program helps to establish specific criteria for the provision of funds to eligible community groups and eligible community events.

Environmental Initiatives Grant

This grant is for local non-profit, schools, or community groups that require a source of funds to defray costs associated with environmental projects or programs that support the City of St. Albert's environmental policy, plans, or practices. Games Legacy Grant

The purpose of the Games Legacy Award Grant program is to encourage St. Albert Community Groups to provide development opportunities in amateur sport or the arts through programs or projects that are beyond the group's regular training or instruction.  The program also provides support to individuals or teams that have achieved representative status at a national or international competition/event in amateur sport or the arts.

Community Capital Program Grant 2013

The purpose of the Community Capital Program Grant is to provide a source of funds for eligible capital projects to be undertaken by eligible not-for-profit community groups that provide broad and inclusive recreational, cultural or social services within the City of St. Albert.  Eligible capital projects include new construction, expansion, renovation, or a replacement project for an existing facility.  

The Community Capital Program Grant is approved on a matched-grant basis.  Applicants can apply for up to 1/3 funding of their total project costs, and must clearly indicate funding sources for the remaining 2/3 costs in their proposed budget.
