Fireplaces, Stoves and Heaters
A building permit is required prior to the installation of all fireplaces, inserts, stoves, or wood burning appliances (solid fuel fired). Gas-fired appliances require a gas permit.
- Submit a drawing showing the intended location of the appliance within the building.
- Provide a copy of the manufacturers' specifications showing the name, model number and third party testing agency.
- Complete a building permit application for wood burning appliances or
- Complete a gas permit application form for gas fired appliances.

To receive a timely decision on your application, please ensure that your application is clear, legible and accurate. If any part of your application is missing, unreadable or inaccurate, your application will be deemed incomplete, and a decision will not be rendered.
