Fireplaces, Stoves & Heaters
A building permit is required before installing all fireplaces, inserts, stoves, or wood-burning appliances (solid fuel-fired). Gas-fired appliances require a gas permit.
Application Procedure
- Download and Complete the
Building / Development Permit Application Form - For gas-fired appliances, please also download and complete the
Gas Permit Application - Submit a drawing showing the intended location of the appliance within the building.
- Provide a copy of the manufacturers' specifications showing the name, model number and third-party testing agency.
Note: To receive a timely decision on your application, please ensure that your application is clear, legible and accurate. If any part of your application is missing, unreadable or inaccurate, your application will be deemed incomplete, and a decision will not be rendered.
