Environmental Management System

The City of St. Albert is committed to integrating environmental responsibility into daily operations and decision-making. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) provides a structured framework that helps the City's Public Operational department to identify, manage, monitor, and continually improve environmental performance across municipal operations.

Through annual validations by a third-party auditor, the EMS maintains registration to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. This achievement demonstrates the commitment that has been made to the implementation of the City Council's Environmental Sustainability Policy.

Through this systematic approach, the City is committed to:

  • Complying with Legislation
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Protecting the Environment

By embedding environmental practices into everyday activities, the EMS helps the City protect natural resources, reduce its environmental footprint, and support a sustainable future for the community.

ISO 14001:2015 Registration

As part of its commitment to environmental excellence, the Public Operations department maintains registration to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard through annual third-party audits. ISO 14001:2015 is an internationally recognized framework developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that helps organizations establish, maintain, and improve environmental management practices.
