Ride Alongs

Interested in a career as a firefighter or paramedic? 

The following requirements need to be met to start the process to spend the day with one of our crews:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older (government-issued identification is required)
  • Actively pursuing an education as a firefighter or paramedic
  • Provide four weeks' notice for a ride-along application
  • Have access to steel toe boots to wear during the ride along

Note: Prior to commencing your ride along, you will be expected to sign a waiver, release form, confidentiality agreement and complete a criminal record check (at your own expense).

Ride-Along Dates

Note: Each observer will only be allowed one weekday ride-along, unless specified and approved by Fire Chief or designate. Dates must be at least four weeks from today's date.

Authorization

You will be required to provide emergency contact information and sign a waiver release form prior to commencing your ride-along.

Also by completing the application you acknowledge that you may be exposed to confidential and/or privileged information and are strictly prohibited to review, use, retransmit, or disclose any portion there of.

Important information

Fire Services operates with an established chain of command. You will be assigned and answerable to the station officer and expected to follow their instructions at all times. Ride-along observer shifts will only occur on days, never nights. You are required to arrive for your shift, which starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

Fire Services retains the right to cancel or suspend any approved ride-along at any time.
