Respecting Pronouns
How you can be respectful of people’s pronouns:
Respecting pronouns is one of the easiest ways you can show someone that you respect their gender identity. It is a privilege not to worry about the pronouns people use with you. When someone is referred to with the wrong pronoun, it can make them feel invalidated, alienated and hurt.
Respecting pronouns can look like introducing yourself with your preferred pronouns and inviting others to do the same, apologizing and not making a big deal about it if you misgender someone, and using gender inclusive language when possible. Providing people with the opportunity to share their pronouns and then using the correct ones is an easy way to promote inclusivity in your community.
