Frequently Asked Questions
Why are St. Albert Transit fares increasing?
St. Albert Transit fares will be increasing effective February 1, 2026. This represents the first transit fare increase in three years and is consistent with City of St. Albert rate adjustments for other services, which is reviewed/approved by City Council. Transit services charge fares as a means to partially recover the costs to operate the system, and unfortunately, in recent years, costs of delivering transit service have increased. We empathize with our customers about the necessary increases and we do our very best to minimize the impacts as much as possible
How was the increase amount determined?
For all City programs and services, including fare for transit service, fees and charges are reviewed annually by City Administration and submitted to City Council for budget. This is done in alignment with the City’s Fees & Charges Policy
If I buy my February pass in January, will I get it at the lower price?
Any February passes purchased in January will be sold at the increased price. Tickets can be purchased at the lower rate until January 31.
