Mandatory Face Coverings

Mandatory Face Coverings

The Government of Alberta issued an Order on December 8, 2020 that masks are mandatory in all indoor public places in the province. This includes transit and vehicles for hire.

On December 21, 2020, Council passed an amendment to suspend the City of St. Albert Face Coverings Bylaw, so only the provincial masking requirements are in effect to limit confusion in St. Albert.

Note:

  • Children ages 2 and older must wear a mask as per provincial Orders, unless an exemption applies.
  • Effective August 1, 2020, all transit riders are required to wear a face covering on Edmonton Transit Service

In addition to mandatory face coverings, St. Albert Transit riders must adhere to the following:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Physical distance while you are waiting
  • Wash or sanitize your hands frequently and do not touch your face
  • Cough/sneeze into your elbow
  • Passengers should spread out on board when possible
  • Stand away from the transit operator, give them space
