Find answers to frequently asked questions about using the Book-A-Bus system.
Why do I need to create an account?
Creating an account is encouraged so you can take advantage of services such as tracking your buses, push notifications and text messaging. With an account, you can save personal search results and create a list of favorite locations so booking future trips is easy.
You can easily set up an account using the Book-A-Bus app or online.
However, an account is not required to book trips. If you would prefer not to create an account, you can contact the Customer Service team at 780-418-6060 and they can book trips for you. Please note that the Customer Service team is only available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How do I book a trip?
A trip booking is required before boarding the bus. If you do not have atrip booked, the driver will ask you to book a trip or can book a trip on your behalf.
You can book a trip by following these steps:
- Open the app or visit the website.
- Login to your account or create an account if you haven't already done so.
- Enter your pickup and drop off addresses.
- Choose the ride that works for you by tapping Book This Ride. If you are trying to book a ride for a date in the future, please click on the Schedule button and enter the date that you would like to travel. Please note, if you are booking a future trip, you must book it at least one day in advance.
- Check the app to track your ride and know exactly when the driver will arrive. Be sure to be out at the bus stop for the time the trip is booked as the bus can't wait.
I don't have a mobile device. How do I book a trip?
If you don’t have a mobile device, you can book a trip by phoning the Customer Service team at 780-418-6060 or you can book a trip from a desktop or laptop computer.
Please note that the Customer Service team is only available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How do I pay for my trip?
You will need to pay when you board the bus. In-app payment is not available.
Regular local fares apply to all Book-A-Bus trips.
How do I cancel a trip?
You can cancel a ride once you have booked your ride and you see that the driver in on the way by following these steps:
- Head to the Waiting for Vehicle screen.
- Click on the Cancel Ride button located at the bottom of the screen.
For a pre-booked trip, head to the Scheduled Rides page via the menu icon in the upper left hand corner. From this page, you can cancel your ride.
How do I modify a trip that I've already booked?
If you need to modify a pre-booked trip, please contact the Customer Service team at 780-418-6060 and they can assist you.
If you need to modify an on-demand trip, please cancel the trip and re-book.
Can I book a recurring trip?
If you have a regular recurring trip to book using the Book-A-Bus system, please contact the Customer Service Team at 780-418-6060 and they would be happy to set that up for you.
Can I use Book-A-Bus to travel into Edmonton?
The Book-A-Bus service is only available within St. Albert. Trips can be booked to one of the transit stations where you can connect with a commuter bus into Edmonton.
How do I know which bus I'm waiting for?
You will be provided with a bus number once your bus is on route.
How long will I have to wait for a bus?
Riders will be provided with a pickup time and an estimated time of arrival. Please note that there is a 15-minute window for pick-ups so be sure to arrive before the beginning of the pick-up window because the bus can’t wait.
What do I do if I get the message "Sorry, we couldn't find a ride"?
If you are trying to book a trip on Book-A-Bus and you receive the message "Sorry, we couldn't find a ride", this means that the time slot that you have requested is fully booked and the service cannot provide any more rides. Please adjust your pickup time by 5 minutes or more and try again. You may have to continue to adjust your requested pickup time until a ride is available.
