Environmental Initiatives Grant Program

The Environmental Initiatives Grant Program (EIGP) is a fun and easy way to encourage sustainability projects that align with the City of St. Albert’s Environmental Master Plan. Since the grant program was launched in 2007, 115 community projects have received funding!  Our goal is to fund 150 projects by 2020. We are encouraging interested community groups of two or more residents, non-profit societies, charitable organizations, and schools to apply for the grant.

Grant requests can be made in any denomination up to $5,000.  Funding requests over this amount will require additional review and approval by Council. To find out if you are eligible and to apply, visit the program requirements webpage.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration

The 2017 allocation of the Environmental Initiatives Grant Program marks the 10th year of community lead environment projects in St. Albert. Let's celebrate the amazing commitment and work of St. Albert residents, not-for-profit societies, charitable organizations and schools.

Free Information Session

A free information session is held each year for anyone wanting to learn more about the grant program, for help refining a project idea, or to connect with project partners in the community.

This year's session was held on Saturday, July 8 in the Douglas Cardinal Boardroom at City Hall. Attendees met with City staff, Councillor Russell and Councillor Heron, and Environmental Advisory Committe Chair Tanya Doran, who were on-hand to enthusiastically answer questions about the application process.

If you were not able to attend the information session, you can still apply for a grant! Simply call Environmental Coordinator - Community Strategy & Engagement, Meghan Myers at 780-459-1735 to discuss your project idea.
