Attendance increased to 84,966 in 2025, up from 74,674 in 2024. This represents a continued recovery and upward trend following the sharp decline in 2020. Over the past three years (2023–2025), overall attendance has averaged approximately 78,000, indicating that participation levels have stabilized and remain strong.

Arden Theatre Events

This indicator measures the number of events held in the Arden Theatre.

In Q2 2026, the Arden Theatre hosted 149 events, which is consistent with Q2 2025. This reflects continued strong event activity and sustained use of the theatre.

In the first half of 2026, the theatre hosted 251 events compared to 220 events during the same period in 2025, representing an increase of approximately 14 per cent. This increase reflects a return to stronger activity levels following lower usage in Q1 2025 due to lifecycle maintenance. Since 2023, the theatre has averaged approximately 335 events per year. Overall, Arden Theatre event activity remains strong and continues to reflect sustained demand and community participation.

The indicator measures the number of days the Arden Theatre is used.

In Q2 2026, the Arden Theatre was used for 69 days, compared to 70 days in Q2 2025, showing that quarterly usage remained essentially consistent year over year.

In the first half of 2026, the Arden Theatre was used for 136 days, compared to 129 days during the same period in 2025. This represents an increase of 7 days, or approximately 5 per cent, reflecting steady theatre use and continued demand for programming and facility access.

Since 2023, the Arden Theatre has averaged approximately 237 days of use per year, indicating consistent utilization over recent years.

Library Materials Circulated Per Capita

Library materials circulated per capita measures the number of loans/borrows (circulation) per time period divided by the City's population (per capita).

In 2025, St. Albert Public Library circulated 850,160 items to a population of 72,316, which equals 11.77 items borrowed per resident. This represents an increase from 10.71 items per resident in 2024, reflecting a higher circulation rate of library materials.

Much of this growth came from the Jensen Lakes branch, which continues to see strong neighbourhood use and is helping more residents access library services. Overall, the increase in borrowing highlights the Library’s role in supporting learning, community connection, and access to information for residents across St. Albert.

Servus Place & Fountain Park Facility Traffic

The indicator measures the number of individuals visiting the facilities.

Comments

Overall trends of facility traffic at Servus Credit Union Place and Fountain Park Recreation Centre continue to level off following a return to play in 2021.

Traffic in recreation facilities increased in 2025, reaching 2,027,691 visits, up from 1,962,816 in 2024. This continued increase reflects ongoing recovery and growth following the extensive shutdown of the Fountain Park Recreation Centre from May 2022 to July 2023 for renovations.

Rental and Programmed Hours at Recreation Spaces

The indicator measures the number of rental and program hours booked in recreation facilities and parks.

Comments

Rental and program bookings in recreation facilities and parks remained strong in 2025, reaching 138,649 hours compared to 137,947 hours in 2024. This reflects stable utilization and continued demand for recreation programming and facility rentals.

This ongoing trend follows the recovery from the extensive shutdown of the Fountain Park Recreation Centre from May 2022 to July 2023 for renovations.

Visual Arts Studio Usage

This indicator shows the number of hours the Visual Arts Studios are used. The studios are accessed primarily by member guilds of the St. Albert Place Visual Arts Council, including Potters, Painters, Floral Arts, Paper Arts, and Quilting. The Arts and Heritage Foundation also uses the studios to deliver community recreation arts programming and educational programming for schools.

In Q2 2026, the Visual Arts Studios recorded 3,388 hours of use, compared to 3,228 hours in Q2 2025. This represents an increase of 160 hours, or approximately 5 per cent. This modest increase indicates continued steady use of the studios and helped offset the slight decrease recorded in Q1.

In the first half of 2026, the studios recorded 6,039 hours of use, which is very consistent with the 6,005 hours recorded during the same period in 2025. Annual usage has averaged approximately 11,800 hours per year from 2022 to 2025. Overall, usage remains steady and continues to show ongoing demand for Visual Arts Studio space, despite fewer school field trips in 2026 due to school scheduling and capacity impacts.
