Emergency Services
St. Albert has comprehensive management plans for responding to and recovering from potential emergencies. The following data provides details on the City’s emergency response efforts.
Indicators
911 Calls Received
Measures total number of 911 calls received for police, fire, and medical services.
Reporting frequency: Quarterly Last updated: Q4, 2019
Comments
For a second quarter in a row we have seen a decrease in the total 911 calls we have received. Generally speaking we are seeing an overall increase in the total 911 calls year over year, which is to be expected with year of year population growth.
Criminal Code Incidents Per 1,000 Capita
Measures the number of criminal code incidents per 1,000 residents in St. Albert.
Reporting frequency: Quarterly Last updated: Q4, 2019
Comments
There was a small decrease in the number of criminal code incidents per population from Q3. The number is within historical Q4 norms. For more detailed information about crime and policing statistics please visit the Policing Reports on this website.
Total Emergency Response Time
The time interval from the receipt of the alarm at the Fire Communication Center to the first emergency response unit arriving on the incident scene.
Reporting frequency: Quarterly Last updated: Q1, 2022
Disclaimer
Starting Q1 2019, we have changed the methodology of calculating Total Response Time to align with NFPA 1710 (Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations, and Special Operations to the Public by Career Fire Departments). Concurrent with this change, we have also changed the reporting area for EMS calls. EMS response time now only includes calls within the City. Earlier we were reporting EMS response time for boundary-less EMS service for calls within and outside St. Albert. Response times for boundary-less EMS service are now available in the comment section for each data point, beginning Q1 2019. Data points prior to Q1 2019 within this graph have been recalculated using the same methodology to ensure consistency and transparency of reporting.
Vehicle Injury Accidents per 1,000 Capita
Measures a number of vehicle injury accidents per 1,000 population.
Reporting frequency: Quarterly Last updated: Q4, 2019
Comments
Similar to the previous Q4 reports, we have seen an increase in the total number of injury collisions per 1,000 population in this quarter. This is anticipated very year due to the poor weather conditions a winter city experiences. For more detailed information about collisions please the Transportation Statistics webpage on this site.
