This indicator shows the total number of business licences registered in St. Albert, excluding out-of-town and home-based business licenses. Business licences show the growth of St. Albert’s non-residential sector, which has important implications for reducing the residential tax rate. It is also a minor source of revenue for the City.

The number of annual business licences grew from 2017 to 2018. The growth rate was at ~3.2%, which is slightly smaller than the previous year's growth rate of ~3.8%. Commercial development helped to keep the growth rate steady, with new retail districts in Jensen Lakes Crossing and Ville Giroux contributing to the steady growth of business licences.
