St. Albert Transit's annual ridership measures the number of commuter and local trips. St. Albert Transit primarily monitors the number of commuter trips. The number of local trips is calculated using an assumption of 18% of total commuter trips. This assumption is validated every three years through a passenger survey.

Transit ridership was impacted by the Groat Bridge rehabilitation construction project. First by route delays, then by removal of service to the University. Many routes had to detour downtown for transfer to/from LRT.
