These could include parcels registered for residential or non-residential buildings.

Comments 322 lots were registered at Land Titles in 2025, a decrease from 427 lots in 2024. However, applications were received to create 653 lots in 2025 compared to 473 lots applied for in 2024, indicating strong development interest despite lower registrations during the year. Overall, the trend suggests a cyclical pattern in lot registration activity, influenced by external market conditions such as population growth, migration trends, construction costs and labour availability.
Permits Issued The indicator measures the number of permits issued, including building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, gas, propane and HVAC.

Comments The City issued 7,050 permits in 2025, continuing the strong upward trend in permitting activity. This represents a 2.5 per cent increase compared to 2024 (6,877 permits) and is the highest number of permits recorded since 2008. The sustained increase reflects continued development and construction activity in St. Albert.
Building Construction Value The indicator measures the total dollar value of new building construction proposed as recorded by permits granted for residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional. Construction values can vary from quarter to quarter depending on the timing and value of permits issued.
Note: These totals include construction value from permits issued for new constructions and renovations.

Comments In Q1 2026, total building construction value was $79.1 million compared to $88.3 million in Q1 2025. This represents a decrease of $9.3 million or approximately 10 per cent.
While Q1 2026 was lower than the same period last year, construction activity remains strong compared to recent years and continues to reflect steady development investment in the community.
Renovation Construction Value The indicator measures the construction value from residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional building renovations as recorded by building permits issued. Renovation values can vary by quarter depending on the timing of permit issuance and the value of approved projects.

Comments In Q1 2026, renovation construction value was $8.5 million compared to $6.7 million in Q1 2025. This represents an increase of $1.8 million or approximately 26 per cent.
Renovation activity in Q1 2026 was also higher than Q1 2024, indicating continued investment in residential, commercial, industrial and institutional building improvements.
