Council Code of Conduct

The Municipal Government Act requires Alberta municipalities to establish a Code of Conduct for its elected officials and prescribes what needs to be included in the Code. St. Albert has complied with this legislative requirement by passing the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw.

Complaints Against the Conduct of Council Members

If you are a person entitled to vote in a general municipal election in St. Albert, then you have standing to make a formal complaint against a Council member if you believe they may have contravened the Code of Conduct. Schedule A to the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw sets out the manner in which a formal complaint may validly be made, and to whom it must be sent.

If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to call the Chief Legislative Officer at 780-459-1705 or send an email to dleflar@stalbert.ca.
