Councillor Jacquie Hansen
Jacquie Hansen is the youngest of 10 children, born and raised in Vancouver. She came to St. Albert 22 years ago with her husband and family and immediately became involved with the education system as a way to meet people.
In 2001 she became a school board trustee with Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools and served four terms (until 2013). During this time she became involved regionally and provincially on a number of educational boards eventually becoming chair and president of the Alberta School Boards Association, an organization that represents 61 public, separate and francophone school boards. A major part of this role was uniting school boards in an effort to directly advocate on educational matters to the provincial government.
Concurrent with her school board term, Jacquie served 6 years on the Children & Family Services Authority Board (region 6) Edmonton and Area.
Jacquie helped out with her four children's activities - hockey, music, lacrosse, choir. She has served locally on the Sturgeon Hospital Foundation, St. Albert Economic Development Advisory Board, the Library Board and the St. Albert Rotary Club. She also assists at her parish.
Jacquie recently served as the Executive Director of the Alberta School Councils' Association.
Jacquie's interests are theatre, music, staying active and the outdoors. She has a Bachelor of Physical Education with a minor in English from UBC.
