What You Need To Know About Your 2024 Property Assessment and Taxation Notice

Below you will find key information about important dates, payment options, tax amounts, where to find more information and who to contact if you have questions.

Dates and Deadlines

  • 2024 Combined Assessment and Taxation Notices were mailed to residents on May 29, 2024
  • Property Tax due June 30, 2024
  • Please note, June 30, 2024 is a Sunday. Plan to pay ahead.  
  • Property Assessment Review Period/Appeal Deadline - August 6, 2024

Payment Options

  • Pre-Authorized Payment Plan
    The Pre-Authorized Tax (PAT) Payment Plan allows for the payment of property taxes in 12 monthly instalments from January to December.
  • Your Financial Institution
    City of St. Albert Property Tax payments are accepted at most financial institutions via in-branch banking and ATM. Allow at least 3 business days for processing.
  • In-Person (Main floor at St. Albert Place - 5 St. Anne Street: Monday to Friday during regular business hours 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
    Credit cards are not accepted for payment of taxes. If paying in person by debit card, please ensure the daily limit on your card allows for the transaction amount.
  • The Drop Box (5 St. Anne Street)
    Outside of normal business hours, you can drop off your payment through the mail slot located on the right-hand side of the front doors at St. Albert Place. Cheques only please (do not deposit cash).
  • By Mail (5 St. Anne Street, St. Albert AB T8N 3Z9)
    Cheques should be made payable to the City of St. Albert. Receipt for payment of taxes provided upon request only. Must be postmarked on or before the due date.
  • By Telephone or Internet Banking
    Create a new 'payee' by searching 'City of St. Albert' Taxes. Your tax roll number from your current tax notice is your account number. Allow at least 3 business days for processing.

Online Assessment and Taxation Records

On May 7, 2024, City Council passed Bylaw 13/2024 – the 2024 Tax Rate Bylaw. The Municipal Government Act requires the City to annually adopt a Tax Rate Bylaw. Bylaw 13/2024 is expected to generate a combined $173,648,676 in tax revenue. The passing of this bylaw provides funding for the City’s programs and service levels, as approved in the 2024 Municipal Operating Budget.

How Much Will Taxes Increase?

  • Sample Residential Property
    An overall increase of 4.5 per cent will be seen in the total tax requirement for a residential property worth $500,000.  
  • Sample Non-Residential Property
    A typical commercial or industrial property worth $1,000,000 will see an increase of 4.7 per cent overall increase in taxes.

When speaking with an assessor or tax representative, you may be asked to provide additional information to verify ownership of the property if the title transfer has not been completed by Alberta Land Titles
