The City of St. Albert is pleased to announce that Kerzeka were the successful artists chosen through Public Art’s recent call for artists to paint a mural on the starting hill of the BMX Track in Riel Recreation Park!

Kerzeka is a dynamic artistic duo formed by artists Kerz and Zeka, united by a passion for muralism, community connection and sharing the spirit of authentic creativity through live painting and teaching. Together, their unique styles blend seamlessly to create impactful, large-scale murals and visual art that engage and inspire.

• Kerz (born in Rome, now based in Calgary) is a muralist with over six years of experience in the field. Originally rooted in European street art, he has expanded his practice to embrace multiple styles of professional muralism. His work is inspired by abstract forms, technology and the urban energy of street art. Combining hard-edged shapes with expressive strokes and mixed media, Kerz creates compositions that range from bold, abstract works to semi-realistic designs.
• Zeka, a Canadian-born artist, explores a wide spectrum of styles, from abstract art to realism. Her work draws inspiration from the natural world and the power of communication. She often portrays portraits, animals and calligraphy, using a unique mix of abstract shapes, soft blending techniques, and contrasting textures. Her compositions guide the viewer’s eye toward realistic or impressionistic focal points, evoking a sense of depth and narrative.

As Kerzeka, they demonstrate how collaboration can elevate art, combining their distinct styles to create a balanced fusion of structure and flow. Their work is a testament to the strength of creative partnerships, showing how two voices can come together to tell a more powerful, collective story and we are so excited to see their work come to life at the BMX Track this summer!

Stroll, bike, or drive down to the motoshed at the BMX Track on June 5, 2025, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. for an awesome evening of art making! Meet the mural artists, grab a freezie, learn how to paint a mural and tell us what makes the river pathway and BMX track a meaningful space in St. Albert.
