Change of Season

As the summer months come to a close and everyone starts to prepare to get back to school, and back to work, the City of St. Albert is undertaking a couple of ‘end of season’ annual programs. These programs during a change of season mark the end of an enjoyable summer and a fresh start into autumn – and this year include the annual Spruce Up of Fountain Park Recreation Centre and the annual Grosvenor Outdoor Pool Dog Swim.

Fountain Park Recreation Centre Annual Spruce Up

The Spruce Up gives staff an opportunity to complete a deep clean of the pool and conduct required maintenance that cannot be completed while it is open. It is done annually to ensure the facility stays on top of maintenance, which helps to avoid longer closures in the future.

Fountain Park Recreation Centre will be closed from Saturday, August 25 to Sunday, September 9 for its annual Spruce Up, reopening on Monday, September 10.

The Spruce Up initiative includes:

  • Installation of a climbing wall.
  • Deep cleaning of the entire facility, including: waterslide, pools, hot tub, squash court and indoor playground.
  • Maintenance work around the facility.

Please visit Grosvenor Outdoor Pool and Woodlands Water Play Park Presented by RE/MAX (until September 3) or the Landrex Water Play Centre at Servus Credit Union Place for all your aquatic needs during the closure. Fountain Park members will have free access to these facilities during the closure.

Annual Grosvenor Dog Swim Presented by Adrian Michelutti of Re/Max Professionals – St. Albert

Dogs are invited to come take a splash in the pool before it is cleaned and closed for the season.

Grosvenor Outdoor Pool will be hosting its Annual Grosvenor Dog Swim in support of Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) on Monday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Admission is a simple donation to help support SCARS and can be monetary, or be a new or gently used pet toy, blanket or towel. For a complete list of possible donations, please visit the SCARS website at scarscare.ca and go to How You Can Help > Wishlist. We ask that you please bring your own clean-up bags and pick up after your pet.
