Have Your Say in Building Community and Recreation in St. Albert!

The City of St. Albert has embarked on a process to prioritize and plan for future recreation amenity and community space development at the Community Amenities Site over the course of the next 10 or more years.

This new community site will be designed to foster physical and mental wellness, encourage community building, support social opportunities and reflect a broad range of community perspectives amidst a growing and diversifying city. The site is located along Range Road 260, south of Villeneuve Road and was recently donated to the City by Rohit Group of Companies.

Background

In early 2022, the City launched its Recreation Needs Assessment to gather feedback on the overall recreation needs of the community and to gain insight into the community’s vision for the future.

The City engaged with over 1,870 survey respondents and 34 community organizations, alongside regional partners, local school boards and Indigenous partners about current and anticipated future recreation needs in our community.

The assessment ranked indoor pools as the highest priority need for the City and provided other important inputs that supported the creation of five concept scenarios for the future Community Amenities Site.

Public Input

The City is now seeking the public’s input on the site concepts to provide a better understanding of the priorities and desired amenities for the site.

Video overviews, possible site configurations and other site concept information is available for you to view and explore at conversation.stalbert.ca/activate

Concept plans include five different scenarios:

  1. Baseline option
  2. The Quad option
  3. Recreation & Education Campus option
  4. Urban Edge option
  5. Recreation Campus option

Survey

A survey to provide feedback on the five site concepts is available until March 5, 2023 for the public to participate in this important engagement opportunity that will shape the future of our community. Learn more
