Construction Season Success

With the colder weather approaching, another construction season is coming to an end. The City would like to thank residents and road users for being patient during this year’s season. Major construction around the City is set to wrap up by the end of October but is weather dependent. Work may continue into November, if necessary, to conclude the 2021 construction season.

Here are some key milestones that were met during the 2021 construction season:

  • The North St. Albert Trail project opened new southbound lanes for traffic near Jensen Lakes Blvd. on October 9.
  • The Everitt Drive North and Ebony Way Intersection project is now complete. The roundabout opened to travelers on October 12.
  • The Rivercrest Lift Station was completed and includes a paved parking area. This is now a great place to access the river valley or the Kinsmen Playground.

  • The City removed 3200 pre-inspected trip hazards within the northeast area of St. Albert as part of the Sidewalk Trip Hazard project.
  • Road Reconstruction on Delisle Court was completed on October 1. This included rebuilding the road structure, curb, gutter and spot sidewalk replacement.
  • Fowler Athletic Park Refurbishment will be completed by November 1. New track and field components will be added, plus a full track replacement and site drainage improvements.
  • The Woodlands Skatepark presented by Bright Dental is complete and ready to use. The facility includes improved terrain and features that appeal to all ages and skill levels.

Woodlands SkateparkIt has been a busy season for road crews, travelers and project managers. The City has worked on close to 50 capital projects in total. More than half of these projects (66 per cent) are on time and all but one project is on budget. (On Budget refers to a project being within the amount approved by Council).
