Inclusive Hiring & Cultivating Abilities
The City of St. Albert embraces diversity and is proud to be an inclusive and accessible gathering place of people. To emphasize the importance of inclusion and to ensure the full participation of Persons with Disabilities as candidates for employment and as employees with the City of St. Albert, Council established an Inclusive Hiring Policy in 2014. The City also supported St. Albert’s Declaration to be a Welcoming & Inclusive Community in June 2018. Alongside this policy and declaration, Administration has worked to build partnerships with agencies in St. Albert and the Capital Region that provide support to persons with disabilities to help make the recruitment process, and employment opportunities as inclusive and barrier free as possible.
Over the past few years, the City has hired several persons with disabilities into meaningful employment opportunities with our Recreation & Parks, Public Works & Transit, Utilities & Environment, and Community Services departments through the Cultivating Abilities Program. These employees have demonstrated commitment, dedication and have contributed to the success of the City.
Being an inclusive employer builds a team environment that is accepting and willing to accommodate differences of many types and creates pride in the community and the corporation. We are a strong and supportive team and through inclusive hiring, we make St. Albert a great place to live and work.
