Have No Fear Curbside Leaf Pick Up is Here

After the kids are done jumping in all the piles of leaves this fall what happens next?

As you’re cleaning up your yard in preparation for winter, be sure to take advantage of curbside leaf pick up happening for its second round from October 24 to November 4, 2022. The City of St. Albert will then turn these leaves into compost!

Leaves must be in paper bags or reusable garbage cans or bins (maximum size of 80 L or 21 gallons) on your waste collection day by 7 a.m. Leaves that are placed in plastic bags will not be collected.

“As a community with many mature trees throughout our neighbourhoods that love to produce leaves, the City provides annual curbside leaf collection as a way for residents to easily dispose of extra leaf and yard waste that may not fit in their Green Organics Cart,” says Katie Burd, Waste & Diversion Operations Supervisor.

“For those who want to look at composting their leaves on their own, but don’t know where to get started, we also have resources on our website with some quick and simple tips on home composting,” adds Katie. Be sure to check out the Home Composting page today.

If you don’t have all your leaves gathered up in time for curbside collection, you can also place leaves inside the Green Organics Cart or drop the fluttery foliage off at the Compost Depot
