Legalizing Cannabis in St. Albert
Until April 4, you’re encouraged to provide your input to our:
This summer, the Government of Canada will be legalizing recreational cannabis nationwide. But what does that mean for residents of St. Albert? How will it affect us here?
While both the Federal and Provincial Governments have made legislative changes that provide direction to municipalities, there are still decisions municipalities must make. And that’s where we need your help. The City of St. Albert is looking for input on how the sale and consumption of cannabis will be handled in our community.
The survey will:
- Provide information to residents on cannabis legalization and the City’s role, responsibilities and plans. View the Areas of Responsibility page to see who’s responsible for what.
- Seek input from residents that will help shape future bylaws and practices regarding store locations, smoking and vaping of cannabis in public, and considerations for business licensing applications.
- Help the City better understand residents’ perspectives on potential impacts to the community.
Provide your input today. Deadline is April 4, 2018. Survey results will be presented to St. Albert City Council and posted in mid-April to the City website.
