Painting the Town Purple for Family Violence Prevention Month

Across Alberta, November is recognized as Family Violence Prevention Month. For St. Albert residents, it’s an opportunity to learn about healthy relationships and the roles we all have in preventing family violence.

This year, the City of St. Albert and RCMP are joining forces to Paint the Town Purple and raise awareness of the types of abusive behaviours, warning signs and the supports available.

Residents may notice City staff and RCMP officers at Servus Place throughout November where they will be speaking with the public and sharing resources and information. They will also be handing out purple ribbons – a symbol of support for survivors of family violence.

Family violence does happen in St. Albert. It takes many forms and can affect anyone. Together, we can help the community work towards building healthier relationships.
