Shop Safely this Holiday Season
This year, shopping for your Christmas gifts may look and feel a little different. While we know the pandemic may have upended your holiday plans, we hope it doesn’t dampen your holiday spirit. You can still brighten someone’s day when you choose to shop local.
Choosing to shop local, either in-person, online or over the phone, is something you can do that directly benefits our community. We know people want to support local businesses. When we see our local shops struggling, we want to help out. “Shop Local” is more than a slogan; it’s a way to show you care.
Many St. Albert businesses, from bakeries and small boutiques to restaurants and repair shops, could use your support. Several retailers have invested in their websites to create virtual storefronts. These allow you to shop local from the safety and comfort of your home. You can buy everything from a gift card to a live-streamed cooking class online.
If shopping in-person is a holiday tradition you want to keep, many local stores have made that possible by going above and beyond to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect customers and employees. St. Albert retailers are enforcing strict protocols and adhering to the current provincial guidelines. We ask that shoppers respect preventative measures in place at each establishment which may include:
- Physical distancing
- Wearing face coverings
- Limiting the number of shoppers in the store
- Unidirectional flow through the aisles
- Sanitizing counters, carts and baskets between customers
- Increased breaks for handwashing and applying hand sanitizer
However, you choose to shop this holiday season, we hope you choose to support our St. Albert businesses.
