Join the City on November 2 for Sports Day Presented by Illuminate Challenge!

Whether you’re lacing up your cleats, sneakers or skates, or forgoing footwear all together, there’s a little something for everyone to try at Sports Day presented by Illuminate Challenge!

The City of St. Albert is proud to be home to over 70 sport and recreation not-for-profit organizations that provide a wide range of recreational opportunities and programming in the community.

Just over 20 of these organizations will be gathering at Servus Credit Union Place on Saturday, November 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Sports Day. The event is free and residents of all ages can see firsthand what sport and recreation opportunities are available to them!

Join us

  • Take part in “try it” events and watch demonstrations.
  • Learn about volunteering and coaching opportunities.
  • Meet and greet local sports organizations.
  • Have fun with family and friends!

“This event is intended to provide a low-key introduction and awareness to the various sports group opportunities in our community, with no pressure or obligation to commit,” explains event organizer Dean McMullan.

What makes the City’s Sports Day event unique is that a variety of sports groups will have interactive booths set up to show off their organization and the opportunities they offer. “Residents can explore many great sports activities in a relaxed and welcoming environment, as well as meet face-to-face with the volunteers and coaches who represent the sports groups,” says Dean.

Nowhere else in St. Albert can you get this in-person experience, and all under one roof! It is a great event to warm up from the cold and enjoy some physical activity. No matter your age or ability, there will be something for everyone to enjoy at Sports Day, presented by Illuminate Challenge!

Sport Central Donation

In celebration of Sports Day, the City is asking residents to help those in need by donating new or gently used sports equipment items. A Sport Central drop-off box is now set up in front of Servus Place Guest Services until November 6. Sport Central will gather, recycle and redistribute equipment to those in need in Northern Alberta, including St. Albert. For a list of acceptable equipment donation items, please visit sportcentral.org

Special thanks to our sponsors!
