A St. Albert Transit Love Story
It’s not every day that somebody sits down on their transit commute and meets their one-day spouse. But that’s exactly what happened to Sydney and Josh Pigeon.
The newlyweds met during their daily travels in September of 2010. They would both take the A11, transfer at Village Landing to the 203 and ride on the same bus to their classes at the University of Alberta. Though each was studying different subjects, they both had 8 a.m. classes every Monday Wednesday and Friday.
It wasn’t until a mutual friend named Mark introduced them to each other, that they realized that they had a deeper connection. By November 2010 they were a couple and the rest, as they say, is history.
The couple were married June 8, 2019, in a cheerful celebration at the Bennett Centre in Edmonton.
Since their daily bus rides were such an important part of their story, the Pigeons decided to forgo the traditional limo and rent a St. Albert Transit bus for their big day. The bus, donated by StAT officials who heard their story, transported the couple and their family and friends from the ceremony to the reception.
According to Sydney, the day was everything they hoped for. “It was so fun on the bus, we had a blast with Darren (the driver), and it was way easier than trying to sit in a limo or car with my dress!”
The memorable day just serves as a reminder that you never know just when, or where, you’ll meet someone important. Just another added benefit of the safe, friendly rides on St Albert Transit!
