St. Albert’s Dog-Friendly Parks

One of the great joys of having a dog is getting out in nature for a long walk at the end of the day. St. Albert has an abundance of natural beauty to choose from, but we also have two dog-friendly parks for our furry friends to run free and enjoy some time off-leash. These off-leash parks are also great places for you to enjoy the natural setting, get some exercise and socialize with other dog owners.

The Lacombe Lake Dog Park, located on McKenney Avenue, has long been a destination for local dog owners. The wide-open spaces, view of the lake, and treed trails make it a great option! St. Albert’s other dog-friendly park is Dodger Dog Park, located in the Campbell Business Park near Servus Place. It features a beautifully landscaped off-leash area, benches for you to rest on, plenty of nearby parking and lots of room for dogs to run and play. Make sure to visit it on your next dog-walking adventure!

Did you know? St. Albert also has 12 designated outdoor boarded skating rinks as additional locations to exercise and play with your dogs. These rinks can be used as off-leash areas when not in use for organized sporting activities.

When using the off-leash areas, please remember:

  • Dogs must be licenced and remain under the owner’s control (voice, sound or sight commands).
  • Dog walkers must always carry a leash. Leashes must be used on or within one metre of trails in all areas, including off-leash.
  • Dogs must be on-leash if a regularly organized sporting activity is taking place within a designated off-leash area.
  • Dogs are not allowed in playground areas (no change from previous bylaw).
