Original Release - August 18, 2025

On Aug. 14, 2025, at 7:45 PM., St. Albert RCMP responded to a call for service related to a dog bite in the Alderwood neighbourhood of St. Albert. Police were advised that a 61-year-old woman, while walking her dog, was bitten by a large black dog. The incident resulted in serious injury and hospitalization to the victim. Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended and transported the victim to hospital, where surgical procedures were undertaken.

RCMP have attended the scene and continue conducting neighbourhood enquiries. St. Albert RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the dog that bit the woman, the young adult woman who was walking that dog and any witnesses to the incident.

The female dog walker is described:

  • Between the ages of 18 to 20-years-old,
  • Brown hair,
  • Walking a breed of dog comparable to a black coloured Boxer.

The Boxer was larger than the victim's Golden Retriever, which also received bites to its hind legs, requiring admittance to the veterinarian.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident or any other is asked to please contact the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 or your local police.
