Original Release - September 2, 2024

On Sept. 2, 2024, at 12:51 a.m., St. Albert RCMP received a report of a shooting on Hunchak Way in St. Albert. Upon arrival, emergency crews tended to a 17-year-old male youth that was shot. The youth was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other occupants in the vehicle, a 16-year-old female, and 17-year-old male were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation thus far indicates that the youth were originally in a vehicle on Grovesner Blvd. As they were leaving, they had a very brief confrontation with the suspect vehicle described as a white van with tinted windows. After the confrontation, the van followed the teens to the intersection of Levasseur Road and Grandin Road. The van pulled up next to the teens and gun shots were heard. The suspect vehicle fled the area West on Levasseur Road. The victims drove onto Hunchak Way where they awaited emergency services.

The St. Albert RCMP General Investigative Section has taken over the investigation. Although RCMP have already started to solicit area residents for video footage we are asking all area residents that have surveillance cameras to have a look between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m.. Please advise RCMP if you have footage of this white van or anything suspicious.
