RCMP - Man Charged After Shooting Youth on Property Near St. Albert

On June 29, 2024, RCMP received a report of a youth who had been shot at a rural property on Range Road 255 near St. Albert. Investigation has revealed that 2 youths were on the property when they were confronted by an individual armed with a firearm who then shot one of the youths.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, RCMP has charged Sturgeon County resident Jim Bregin (84), with:

  • Aggravated assault;
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Intentional reckless discharge of a firearm.

Bregin was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next court date is July 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Morinville.
