RCMP - Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Collision

On May 27, 2020 at approximately 11:50 a.m., St. Albert Traffic Services Unit and St. Albert RCMP General Duty responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Grandora Crescent.  When members arrived on scene they learned a 6 year old girl was riding her scooter and stopped at the end of a driveway.  The little girl proceeded to lay down behind a parked vehicle, possibly looking for something on the ground.  The driver of the parked vehicle was getting ready to leave and proceeded to back out of the driveway, not seeing the little girl.  After the collision, the driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and rendered assistance to the conscious child.  The girl was transported via ambulance to the Stollery Hospital, where she was seen by physicians and later released with no substantial injuries.

St. Albert RCMP are thankful that the child was not injured severely and want to remind citizens that the weather is nice, small children are outside playing, and they may not be paying attention to their surroundings. Furthermore, parents need to be educating their children about bike/scooter safety, road safety, and playing outside safely.

If anyone has information regarding any crime, they are asked to contact the St. Albert RCMP Detachment at 780-458-7700 or their local police.  If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play.
