RCMP Remind Bicycle Owners to "Lock It Up"
With the nice weather upon us and more people are out cycling and enjoying the outdoors, St. Albert RCMP are seeing an increase in bicycle thefts. St. Albert RCMP are reminding bicycles owners to lock up their bicycles, even if you are only going to loose sight of your bicycle for a brief period as it only takes seconds for someone to steal your bicycle.
Theft of bicycles is a crime of opportunity, if we can remove the opportunity to commit the crime, the crime will not happen.
St. Albert RCMP are encouraging residents of St. Albert to secure their bicycles with an adequate lock. We also recommend taking a picture of your bicycle and recording your serial #, as it will assist police in returning recovered bicycles.
It's 9PM. Have you locked up your bicycle? Do you have a picture and serial # of your bicycle recorded. #9PMRoutine.
If you have any information regarding any crime, you are asked to contact St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), onine at www.P3Tips.com or by using "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
