St. Albert RCMP Respond to Youths with Firearms Complaint

On June 27, 2019 at approximately 7:55 p.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a complaint of several teenage kids in camouflage with firearms described as rifles and handguns at Mission Park.

RCMP set up containment and with the assistance of Air 1, located and arrested 4 youths without incident. It was determined that the youths were in possession of airsoft guns. The youths were all released to parents without charges.

"RCMP take all reports of firearms seriously as public safety is of utmost importance and respond accordingly", says Inspector Pam Robinson, Detachment Commander for St. Albert RCMP. "We encourage the public to do their research as there are outdoor and indoor facilities in the area that can accommodate the use of airsoft guns."

St. Albert RCMP are strongly reminding the public about the dangers and repercussions of bringing and using imitation or airsoft guns to public areas. It not only places themselves and others in danger, but first responders have no way of knowing whether a firearm is imitation, airsoft or real.

4 airsoft guns that were seized in this event and returned to the owner.
