RCMP - Traffic Services Unit Conducts Targeted Enforcement Initiative
Over the weekend of May 8, 2026, St. Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit conducted a project which targeted enforcement of loud and/or fast-travelling vehicles in and around the City of St. Albert.
Throughout the evening, overnight and early mornings of Friday and Saturday, officers made specific and strategic patrols and observations in areas which see a high frequency of loud vehicle complaints. During this time, officers pulled over and issued violations to any vehicles observed to be operating loudly or dangerously along the city’s roadways. Overall, 48 tickets and warnings were issued during the weekend project, some of which were as follows:
- 12 violations for vehicles that were either purposely making noise or being modified to increase noise;
- 5 Careless Driving/Stunting violations; and
- 1 speeding driver also received a 3 day alcohol-related driving suspension.
“As the weather gets better every Spring, residents open the windows to their homes while others bring out their loud vehicles.” Said Corporal Curtis Harsulla of the St Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit. “This clashes, leading to a seasonal increase in loud and fast vehicle complaints. In addition to the education measures we had launched earlier in the season, we will continue to be out enforcing vehicle equipment and noise violations to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for all residents”.
RCMP and enforcement partners will continue to be out monitoring, educating, and enforcing these offences, which can carry up to $852 in fines and removal from the roadway. Should you observe any dangerous driving behaviours please dial 911 and report all details to police.
