2021 Rainmaker Rodeo Will Not Proceed
Kinsmen Club of St. Albert supports City’s decision
Due to the rising rates of COVID-19 across Alberta and the provincial restrictions impacting outdoor events, and in consultation with the Kinsmen Club of St. Albert, the City of St. Albert has made the difficult decision not to allow the 2021 Rainmaker Rodeo to take place at Kinsmen Park.
“This signature event is important to the organizers, participants and community and the decision was not made lightly,” says St. Albert Mayor Cathy Heron. “The City decided to act now to give the event organizers as much advance notice as possible.”
“Although we are disappointed the rodeo cannot run this year, the Kinsmen Club of St. Albert understands the City’s position and supports the cancellation,” says Rob Ladouceur, St. Albert Rainmaker Rodeo & Exhibition Chairperson.
The current provincial public health measures, and a variable timeline for when provincial restrictions might be eased, were key factors that led the Kinsmen Club and the City to agree not to move forward with the 2021 Rainmaker Rodeo. The recently announced provincial restrictions will be in place for at least three weeks and will be extended if necessary.
While it is unfortunate the rodeo cannot be held this year, the City is confident the Kinsmen Club of St. Albert will do an outstanding job hosting the Rainmaker Rodeo in future years when it is once again allowed to proceed.
