The Arden Theatre Launches 2024-2025 Season
The Arden Theatre is pleased to announce a new season of entertainment showcasing artists from across Canada and beyond, bringing a mix of music, film, comedy, dance and family programming to downtown St. Albert.
This season’s music offerings include several artists known for delivering unforgettable Arden performances, including Skerryvore, Five Alarm Funk, Hawksley Workman, Corb Lund Acoustic Trio, Jill Barber, Matt Andersen, and Alex Cuba. The Great Canadian Road Trip returns with a star-studded country lineup featuring Jason McCoy, Chad Brownlee and Jason Blaine. We are thrilled that Frazey Ford, The Black Opry, Kaia Kater, Basia Bulat, The Paperboys, Bel & Quinn, and Blue Moon Marquee will make their Arden Theatre debut and delight audiences this season. We’ll also pay tribute to folk music icons with two tribute shows: Laila Biali Presents: Joni Mitchell & The Canadian Songbook Reimagined and Up on Cripple Creek: The Music of The Band, Bob Dylan, and The Byrds.
Our stellar comedy lineup includes two nights of laughs with CBC’s The Debaters, where comics go toe-to-toe in a battle of laughs and logic. Comedian, writer and actor Aparna Nancherla will share the dry and whimsical sense of humour that has earned her featured sets on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Finally, the cast of The Irrelevant Show return for a 20-year reunion show that features their best sketches from the past two decades.
Cinephiles can join us as we journey to remote vistas and get up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports with The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour. Then, documentary storytelling and live music converge in On The River with Asani & Maria Dunn. This 60-minute live performance and video ballad tells the story of the Cree, Dene and Métis peoples’ community of Fort McKay, through the lens of the life of former chief Dorothy McDonald-Hyde.
Ballet Kelowna: The Cowboy Act Suite & Other Works will deliver a stunning evening of contemporary ballet including Cameron Fraser-Monroe’s taqəš [tawKESH], Alysa Pires’ MAMBO, and Fraser-Monroe’s satirical The Cowboy Act Suite. This high-energy program promises to please a wide range of spectators, with a vibrant selection of music to match. Expect a soundtrack that includes Jeremy Dutcher, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Sarah Vaughn, and Mohawk singer/songwriter Tom Wilson.
As the season winds down, bring the whole family to an afternoon of giggles, unique songs, dancing, magic and more with Al Simmons’ one-man variety show, or take a family-friendly voyage through the alphabet, with fascinating quirky scientific demonstrations — that squish and squirt, float and fly, erupt and explode — in The Alphabet of Awesome Science.
General public tickets for all season events go on sale Wednesday, July 10 at 10 a.m.
Purchase online at tickets.stalbert.ca, in person at The Arden Theatre Box Office (5 St. Anne Street) or by phone at 780-459-1542.
