City of St. Albert Moves Canada Day Activities Indoors

To protect health and safety due to extreme heat

Given the current expected temperatures for this coming Thursday, July 1, the City of St. Albert has modified its Canada Day plans to safeguard the health and safety of both performers and attendees:

  • Roaming Rec Crew activities have been moved indoors to Servus Credit Union Place in the Tudor Vet Hospital Field House.
    • The time remains 12 to 4 p.m.
  • Theatre Performers will be moved indoors to St. Albert Place in both the Lobby and the Arden Theatre.
    • The time remains 12 to 4 p.m.
    • The Arden Theatre performances will be livestreamed on YouTube
  • The link to view will be available both at stalbert.ca/canada-day and on City of St. Albert social media platforms.
  • The Drive-In showing of Shrek has been postponed.
    • Public safety and environmental factors were considered in the decision
    • A new date for the showings will be announced later, on the City of St. Albert’s website and social media channels.

The City of St. Albert is also reminding residents to visit its designated cooling centres if they need to escape the heat and cool off: Servus Credit Union Place, Fountain Park Recreation Centre and St. Albert Place.
