City Extends RV Parking for Fire Evacuees
In support of the Province’s state of emergency and for those who have been forced to evacuate their homes from one of Alberta’s many wildfires, the City of St. Albert has set up a temporary permitting system to extend RV parking privileges for those who are staying with family and friends in St. Albert.
Effective immediately, evacuees who are using RVs or trailers as temporary accommodations can register to continuously park them in front of family and friends' homes until May 31, 2023. The City has temporarily suspended the 24-hour maximum timeframe that was previously allowed in the Traffic Safety Bylaw for those who are registered.
When parked on a public roadway, hook ups for power or operation of the RVs or trailers must not impede, hinder or cause safety issues for pedestrians or vehicle traffic within their vicinity.
To register for a temporary parking permit, owners/occupants of the RV or trailer are asked to contact the St. Albert Municipal Enforcement/RCMP non-emergency line at 780-458-7700 and provide the following details:
- Name of vehicle owner/occupant
- Contact information
- Licence plate, make and model of RV or trailer
- Location where the vehicle is parked.
The City will revisit the RV parking extension prior to May 31 to determine if it can be lifted or still needs to remain for a temporary period. For complete details, visit the Recreational Vehicle and Trailer City Wide Temporary Permit on the City Bylaws page.
