City Launches Survey for Accessible and Inclusive Playground
The City of St. Albert is inviting the public to provide input into its first accessible and inclusively-designed outdoor play space.
The new playground replaces the current structure in Fountain Park (6 Cunningham Road) and will feature elements that are developmentally appropriate for children with and without disabilities and are thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and fun place where children of all abilities can play together.
The City is seeking feedback on the playground design options through an online survey available from March 11 to 25.
Public input along with consideration to budget, maintenance requirements, as well as technical and legislative requirements, will be used to help influence final decisions in creating a playground to be enjoyed by all children and their families.
The principles of this project align with the City’s Universal Access Plan, which prioritizes the actions needed to provide universal and barrier-free access in municipally-owned buildings and public spaces.
