City Seeking Input on Housing Principles and Priorities

To ensure the City of St. Albert is meeting the housing needs of the community, it is advancing work that supports diversifying housing choices – as envisioned by Housing Accelerator Fund Initiatives #1 (“Transit Corridor Intensification Strategy”) and #3 (“Neighbourhood Intensification Strategy”). This work is guided by the City’s existing policy direction and will be refined by input received from the public.

This work includes preparing draft updates to the Land Use Bylaw and completing a Housing Needs Assessment to better understand current and future housing needs.

Before draft regulations are prepared, the City is seeking input on four proposed guiding principles that will shape how housing-related regulations are drafted.

The City also wants to hear about residents’ housing experiences and priorities to help inform the Housing Needs Assessment to support future housing planning decisions.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts through a survey hosted on the City's online public engagement platform: Cultivate the Conversation (CTC)

The survey will be open from March 9 to March 27.

Feedback from the survey will be summarized in a What We Learned Report and shared on the project page of the CTC site.
