COVID-19 Recovery Task Force Meeting Update

Meeting held on February 3, 2020

Members of the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force met virtually on February 3, 2021 to discuss how the committee will support St. Albert’s economic and social recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the meeting, the Task Force discussed next steps with engaging stakeholders to receive feedback on their Interim Report, presented to Council in December. Over the coming weeks, the Task Force plans to meet with various organizations in the St. Albert community. The Task Force also provided a recommendation to Council that Administration research and prepare options for COVID-19 business resiliency programs for the Task Force’s consideration. The City will collaborate with the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce to prepare a survey to distribute to St. Albert businesses to inform recommendations regarding business resiliency programs as part of this work.

“Stakeholder engagement provides an opportunity to better understand projected post-pandemic challenges and opportunities in our community, and to create solutions,” says Mayor Heron. She adds, “We want to involve stakeholders in our next step around a municipal program and we hope to roll something out very soon.”

The Recovery Task Force is a 10-member committee, which includes a cross-section of business and community leaders, who will make recommendations to Council.

The next meeting of the Recovery Task Force is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
