UPDATED - City of St. Albert Provides Update on August 14 Dog Attack
UPDATED RELEASE – AUGUST 28 at 10 a.m.
The City of St. Albert has learned that the attacking dog has been voluntarily euthanized by its owner.
Any further investigation into the incident will be conducted by the City of Edmonton’s Animal Care and Control Peace Officer unit.

The City of St. Albert is releasing new information on the dog attack that occurred on August 14, 2025. During the investigation by Municipal Enforcement Services, the City has learned the main incident took place directly behind the Alderwood neighbourhood of St. Albert, along the Transportation Utility Corridor of Anthony Henday Drive. This area is within the City of Edmonton’s municipal boundary.
As a result, the investigation is being transitioned to City of Edmonton Animal Care and Control Peace Officer unit as it relates to potential offences and further investigation.
Under St. Albert’s Animal Bylaw, Municipal Enforcement Services has deemed the attacking dog “dangerous” and placed care and ownership conditions on the dog effective August 20, 2025.
St. Albert Municipal Enforcement will also be collaborating with the City of Edmonton's Animal Care and Control Peace Officer unit as it relates to further steps in response to this incident.
