City Installs First Permanent Dynamic Information Sign
On May 18, 2022, a new permanent overhead dynamic information sign was installed on Ray Gibbon Drive at St. Albert’s south entrance.
Motorists driving northbound into St. Albert will be able to view the sign during their commute.
The sign will share messaging targeting traffic impacts such as road detours, closures and roadway conditions as well as safety messaging, emergency notifications and other essential communications, as necessary.
The sign installation is part of the City of St. Albert’s work on the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategy completed in 2018. The ITS Strategy priorities were to integrate new technologies and applications to support strong data collection and management, improve road user information sharing and traffic management, while minimizing environmental impacts and disruption to movements of goods and people within and through the City.
