Applications Open for Home Energy Efficiency Grant

St. Albert residents can now invest in their home’s future and help protect the environment by applying for a Home Energy Efficiency Grant that allows them to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and put money back in their pockets.

The three-year program, administered in partnership with Summerhill, is offered on a first-come, first-served basis with approximately $40,000 in funds allocated for each year.

Eligible upgrades include the following categories:

  • Insulation upgrades
  • Air sealing improvements
  • Window upgrades
  • Water heating upgrades, including drain water heat recovery and efficient water heating
  • Space heating upgrades, including heat recovery ventilators, smart thermostats and high-efficiency furnaces

The incentives can be stacked with rebates from the Canada Greener Homes Initiative and St. Albert’s Clean Energy Improvement Program.

The Home Energy Efficiency Grant works in five steps for interested residents:

  1. Complete your Energuide Home Energy Evaluation.
  2. Enroll with your Energuide Energy Evaluation.
  3. Upgrade your home.
  4. Apply for your grant.
  5. See how you did!

As part of the grant application process, homeowners will gain valuable insight into energy efficiency opportunities in their home through an EnerGuide home energy evaluation. As recommended home energy efficiency upgrades are completed, they will be qualified to receive a grant to cover a portion of the upgrade costs.
