Greening by Nature Ceremonial Tree Planting

Community event made possible by CN Railway with support of Tree Canada

The City of St. Albert invites you to a ceremonial tree planting and community event on Saturday, September 15, at Kingswood Park. The project and event are made possible by CN Railway with the support of Tree Canada. Following the ceremony, a special community naturalization planting event promoting environmental action will take place.

In June 2018, the City of St. Albert received a matching grant of $5005 to implement a CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up project. These grants are a part of the CN and Tree Canada initiative that invests in community greening projects across Canada.

“The City of St. Albert is committed to protecting our environment, adding trees to our community and living in harmony with nature,” says Mayor Cathy Heron. “We appreciate the grant provided by CN and Tree Canada, which supports us in carrying out this valuable work.”

"Tree Canada is thrilled to be working with CN to enhance the tree canopies of so many deserving communities across Canada," said Michael Rosen, President of Tree Canada. "These trees we plant and nurture are a living legacy that will enrich our country, our communities and our homes for decades to come. These communities greened through CN EcoConnexions will be a lasting testament to CN’s exemplary environmental leadership."

“CN remains committed to making a positive impact on the communities along our network and are proud to be part of a program that helps to make these communities better places to live, work and play. We’re not only helping beautify these communities, we’re positively contributing to a sustainable future one community at a time, as planting trees improves air quality and offsets carbon emissions,” says Sean Finn, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Services and Chief Legal Officer for CN.
