New Permanent Driveway Fire Pit Program

On May 31, 2021, City Council approved a permanent Driveway Fire Pit Program. Driveway fire pits are now allowed every Friday and Saturday. No fire permit is required.

Provincial public health measures must be adhered to while enjoying a driveway fire. The current limitations during Stage 1 of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan include no gatherings indoors and outdoor gatherings are restricted to 10 people. The rules around gathering size have made it difficult for individuals to connect at home. The City of St. Albert has come up with the idea to allow residents to have their fire pits on the driveway to help connect people in a safe space.

It is strongly recommended that residents use a propane fire pit as it does not produce smoke or sparks and is easier to extinguish.
